The dryness of the lip is a message from the water,
which will certainly bring this anxiety to me (Rumi, Masnavi,
Book 3, Part 53)
The thirsty longs for the refreshing water,
Water is also yearning, “where is that water drinker?”
This thirst in us is pulling the water to us,
We belong to it and it belongs to us (Rumi, Masnavi, Book 3, Part 212)
If there was no water, we would not have got thirsty. The wanting is a “Sign” of the existence of that thing which we are in need of. Thirst is the Sign of water, love is the Sign of the beloved, poverty is the sign of wealth, and disease is a Sign of health.
The existence of these needs, not only is the Signs of the final goals, but also is giving evidence as to how they can be achieved.
